GOODWIN: Nathan was not a good person. That’s why he wasn’t on the list.

ANA LUCIA: What about the kids? Did you kill them, too?

GOODWIN: Children are fine. They’re better off now.

El relato de cómo fueron los primeros 48 días en la isla del otro grupo de supervivientes del Oceanic 815, los que viajaban en la sección de cola, desvela que las cosas les han ido mucho peor (sí, aún peor) que a los losties. Como ocurrió con Ethan, también a ellos les mandaron los Otros a un infiltrado (Goodwin), pero no se contentaron con espiarles. Con secuestros y asesinatos los fueron diezmando, hasta que quedaron sólo los cuatro o cinco que encuentran Sawyer, Jin y Michael. Y estos cuatro o cinco, sobre todo Eko y Ana Lucia, llevan también unas cuantas muertes a sus espaldas. Por eso necesitan 40 días. Uno para volver a hablar, la otra para llorar.
